Starting from the picturesque city of Luzern at the Vierwaldstautter See, we embark on an exciting rail journey through one of SwitzerlandÕs most beautiful regions, the Rigi. Stations along our scenic journey include Kaltbad, Staffel, Rigi Kloesterli and Kulm. Some of the highlights are the Pilgrimage Chapel "Maria vom Schnee" in Kloesterli, "Schwingen" (traditional Swiss wrestling) and a side trip on a mountain cable way from Kaltbad to Vegis. In the 1870s Mark Twain, one of the early passengers on the Rigi railway, found his ride "terrifiangly exciting". And nowadays, thousands of Rigi tourist agree on being "excitedly floored" by the beauty of the Rigi region... Also provided on this DVD is rare, historic footage of the famous Rigi in the 1920s. |
