Felix Bollmann hat sein Leben lang für das Kaufhaus Ungerland gearbeitet. Jetzt, wenige Tage vor Weihnachten, wird ihm gekündigt. Und das nur, weil er sich weigert, Kriegsspielzeug und brutale Computerspiele zu verkaufen. Bollmann versteht die Welt nicht mehr und beschließt, sich zu rächen. Am nächsten Tag stiehlt er, als Weihnachtsmann verkleidet, die Tageseinnahmen des Kaufhauses. Beinahe erwischt ihn die Polizei, allen voran Kommissar Maiwald, doch Bollmann kann sich gerade noch in die Praxis eines Psychotherapeuten retten. Dort hält ihn die hübsche Sprechstundenhilfe für die Urlaubsvertretung ihres Chefs. Bollmann bleibt nichts anderes übrig, als in die Rolle des Arztes zu schlüpfen, zumal ihn die erste Patientin, die erfolgreiche Claudia Carrera, schon dringend erwartet. Dank seiner unkonventionellen Methoden hat Bollmann erstaunliche Behandlungserfolge – nur sich selber kann er nicht helfen. Alle Fluchtversuche scheitern, und schließlich ist sogar das Geld verschwunden. Doch dafür tritt die reizende Witwe Sybille Bast in Bollmanns Leben...

Felix Bollmann has worked in the department store Ungerland for all his life. Now, only a couple of days away from Christmas, he is fired. And the reason? He refused to sell war toys and brutal computer games. Bollmann no longer understands the world and decides to take his revenge. The next day he dresses up as Santa Claus and steals the day's takings from the department store. The police, led by Inspector Maiwald, almost catches him but Bollmann is able to escape into the office of a psychotherapist. When the pretty receptionist takes him to be the doctor's holiday replacement and his first 'patient', successful author Claudia Carrera, is already waiting, Bollmann has no choice but to play along and become a doctor. Thanks to his rather unconventional methods, Bollmann's treatments are a smash – the only person he is unable to help, however, is himself. All attempts at escape go bad and finally even the money is gone. But the whole thing has its good side as well – he gets to know Sybille Bast, a charming widow...
